The Official Test Centre (OTC) are very pleased to announce a new and exciting partnership with South Wales based shop Puravida Boardriders at their UK centre for the start of the 2012 season.
The OTC concept, where all the major windsurfing brands are housed under one roof, allowing visitors to test and compare the products side by side, has proved to be a massive success in both the Tenerife and UK centre, and with the new partnership established, the concept is sure to be propelled to the next level this season. With significant investment injected into the very latest equipment, and more initiatives to be announced just around the corner, the UK centre will become the thriving windsurfing hub that Portland Harbour deserves to play host to. This year will see almost double the equipment available for customers to use, complimenting the centre’s RYA recognised school offering courses for beginners to advanced riders.
Speaking about the partnership, Tris Best, co-founder of The OTC said,
“We’ve always tried to distinguish The OTC, and what it stands for, apart from your typical windsurfing centre, school or shop. It’s a totally unique resource where you can come and gain a valuable insight into how each product performs from your own perspective. It is a concept that has challenged convention and broken boundaries for the consumer market with overwhelming response, yet has presented its own challenges when managing the equipment from a retail point of view. We are on the verge of a significant breakthrough that will crystallise the true values of the concept in many people’s minds, and joining forces with someone as motivated and passionate as Jim Brooks at Puravida will help immeasurably. The time, money and effort Jim puts into the sport in the UK is clear for all to see, with a thriving windsurfing community in South Wales and the largest fleets ever recorded in the British Wavesailing Tour with his contribution last year. Puravida Boardriders have committed to put the latest boards and sails into the UK centre’s rack, and it is sure to be an incredibly exciting year. Just hope we don’t steal the thunder of the Olympic Games!”
Jim commented, “The Weymouth and Portland area has long offered great windsurfing conditions that anyone from families to Olympic Champions can enjoy, and with the OTC at the fantastic facility of the Sailing Academy the opportunity to get into the sport has never been better! I’m very keen to see the sport grow and feel that by joining forces with the OTC to support such a great concept and facility is a very exciting prospect and holds a great future for our business.”
OTC UK, powered by Puravida Boardriders, will be opening its doors for 2012 on the 31st March.
