Push the Boat Out – Tasters

The RYA initiative ‘Push The Boat Out’ coincides with the British Marine Federation’s ‘Month of Watersports’, which goes on throughout May. We have however highlighted one weekend, where we will have a bit of an Open Weekend. All the concepts and events, no matter which organisation, have one goal in common: to encourage more people on the water … so it’s basically an excuse for us to have a bit of an open weekend!

We we will be providing discounted taster sessions for both windsurfing (£15.00) and stand-up paddling (£5.00) throughout the weekend. Timings for the 1.5hr tasters will be 10.00am, 12.00pm, 2.00pm and 4.00pm.

Spaces will be limited, so get in touch ASAP to book yourself a slot and avoid disappointment!

Booking Procedure: Call the centre on 01305 230296 / 07817 717904.

Payment can be taken by card and will confirm booking confirmation.

Winter Windsurfing Camps 2017-18

They’re back after high demand! The NWF Winter Windsurfing Camps will kick right into action next month, following the end of the 2017 BSA Series. There’s a new dimension to them now though… Everything will be covered as usual, from core skills to specialist slalom racing, but new for this year will be the option to make the camps foiling focussed, should the conditions be light. So whether you fancy having your first flight … or want to practice racing your foil, the vertical can be challenged! Dates for the camps are as follows:

  • 11-12th November ’17
  • 9-10th December ’17
  • 6-7th January ’18
  • 17-18th February ’18
  • 17-18th March ’18
Cost will be £30 for one day / £50 for 2 days and will include tuition from the OTC staff and a guest coach for the slalom group. For more information, or to book your place drop us an email.

BSA – Neil Pryde and JP Australia

JP Australia and Neil Pryde will once again sponsor a UKWA slalom event with us this season, but it will be at the start of the calendar this year. Let’s hope for some solid breezes … but if they don’t materialise, let’s go foiling! Andy Chambers will be on hand with a load of extra demo kit, so come along, join in the racing and meet up with everyone after what has felt like a very elongated winter period!

National Watersports Festival ’18

Here we go again! The windsurfing event of the year, not to be missed. Part of a larger watersports event again this year, it still fits the same mould yet has moved venue and dates to be hosted on Rutland Water. Details can be found on the NWF website, and the one thing you can be certain of is that Al Cross puts on a massive show – if there is one event that simply HAS to be in your calendar, this is the one. BOOK YOUR TICKETS NOW!

Dorset School Games – Inter Dorset Cup

So here it is – the School Games Inter-Dorset Cup. This is the seventh year windsurfing has been contested at school level and the competition is at a very high standard. Wey Valley will no doubt be on hand to retain their title (Champions for five out of the past six years!), but there will be plenty of competition this year, not least from the other local schools all lining up to take part. It will undoubtedly make for an amazing spectacle, so make sure you can come down and join in for the event.

BSA – GA Sails and Tabou

GA Sails (formally Gaastra) and Tabou will be the headline sponsors of the UKWA slalom finale for 2018! The event is perfectly poised in the calendar to still be warm … but more importantly windy, and the forecast leading up to the event normally gets the juices flowing! Watch our Blog page as we will no doubt have some more news leading up to the event … including details of the end of year party – one that shouldn’t be missed.

Weymouth Speed Week

The longest running windsurfing event in the world … and on our doorstep. Step up all you speed freaks and run down the line! This is the 46th(?) Weymouth Speed Week; let’s hope for some proper wind!
