Harbour Dash '11 - the REAL McCoy
So the temperature record was broken last weekend, and today the ACTUAL Harbour Dash record tumbled! Local legend Adie Bugler had held the fastest speed at 18mins 35secs since 1994, but up steps our Olympic gold medal hopeful Nick Dempsey and smashes it by almost 2mins! Here are some pictures that help to paint the picture a bit more.

Harbour Dash '11
Okay, so we certainly weren't going to break the Harbour Dash record last weekend, but we definitely came close to breaking the record temperature for October. It was quite surreal swimming in the sea just to cool down in early October. Rumour has it that the weather is going to take a turn for the worse by the end of the week, so little surprise that the beach was packed full of people making the most of the conditions. All that attended were keen to re-run the Dash again as soon as the wind reappears - keep an eye on our Latest News page for updates... Pics: Kev Greenslade.

OTC at UK's NWF
For the second year in a row, The OTC mobilised for the National Windsurfing Festival and provided taster windsurfing sessions for Havant Borough Council. Conditions were varied but everyone enjoyed it, and some of the comments coming back were very encouraging. Lots reckoned they had found themselves a new sport, which we always like to hear! To see a small video of the weekend, visit our Facebook page.

Skandia Sail For Gold Event
What a week! GBR prove once again they are the team to beat, and what is more, Nick Dempsey claims gold in our sport! Bryony Shaw has a mixed week but ends on a massive high by winning the Medal race on the Saturday in convincing style, crossing the finish line over 100m in front of her peers. Lets hope that the 'real' thing holds as much drama next year! To see the slideshow with comments, visit our Facebook page.

OTC Winter Slalom Series
After a couple of 'dry-runs' earlier in the month due to a lack of wind, the OTC Winter Slalom Series struck it lucky on the 20th with steady easterly winds, allowing for six races to be held in quick succession. Despite the irregular wind direction, the simple 4-buoy course allowed for a 'slipway' start and finish, adding to the atmosphere amongst the competitiors and the crowds watching on. Local favourite Kev Greenslade was undoubtedly the man to beat, so with some cunning handicaps delivered to the leaders after each race, it ensured everyone was put on a level playing field. It seems we'll have to extend his penalties though, as Kev still managed to pip his peers at the post!

Masterblaster During BSA Event
Several of our regular Team 15 group competed in the Masterblaster fleet during the BSA event we hosted at OTC UK in October. It's been our pleasure to teach the guys and girls this year down at the Academy. Everyone in the group has improved massively and we're sure this will continue into the new year. A massive thanks to Pam from the Will Mackaness Trust, who has been the foundation of the Team 15 success this year - she is an incredible lady!

Bustinskin Middle Distance
"Designed by the Devil himself", the Middle Distance Triathlon of Businskin was a sight to behold, with the 250 participants all entering the water at 7.00am in front of our centre. They then had a 58mile bike-ride and a half marathon ahead of them, taking in some of the most breath-taking scenery yet vertical accents Dorset has to offer. Anyone keen for next year's event?! It's selling out quick, so get in touch with Bustinskin soon to reserve your spot. Pics: Kev Greenslade.

Centre Construction
This is our amateur attempt at time-lapse photography! It was very difficult to ensure the camera was in the same spot each time, but nonetheless it gives a good impression of the stages taken to get the building in place. Photos taken: 09/07/10 - 25/07/10.
