So another season draws to a close and unfortunately without a counting result at this, the last event of the calendar. Typical – light, sunny and warm on Saturday … and then the wind comes in on Sunday when the order of the day is solely for ‘fun races’. Still, it provided time for a very constructive sailors’ meeting on the Saturday morning, before getting ready for the closing party. Massive thanks to Kev Greenslade and his lady Kerry Arnold for sorting the party at the Boat that Rocks – cracking venue. Certainly won’t be the last time we go there…
It’s been an amazing series, with exactly 100 competitors over the year. Ably led by Bob Ingram, his family and team at the UKWA, the series goes from strength to strength. There can’t be enough praise heaped upon these guys and it was only too clear how super grateful everyone is at the party.
We’d also like to congratulate the OTC team members that competed this year – to Kev Greenslade for claiming a well fought second spot yet again. It was so so close this year … and we know he has it in him to go that one step higher. 2017 it is then! To all the youngsters coming through – Sam Anstey for claiming a fantastic first youth overall in the amateurs and Scotty Stallman first youth in the pro fleet (not to mention coming a staggering 7th overall). And the others waiting in the wings – James Faley, Tyler Baker, Ellie Wilcox and Lewis Limm. These guys are red hot and are going to be names that shape the future … certainly nationally and probably beyond. Remember their names – you heard them here first!
