The forecast was for wind on the second day, and although it appeared, it was very quite sporadic and changeable. Nevertheless, the UKWA event crew did a sterling job and managed to get several more rounds in for the Amateurs and Pros, whilst the Masterblaster continued to rack up the races under Brian’s masterful control. Stand out results from a local perspective were 3rd for Kev Greenslade in the Pros, followed by Si Pettifer in fourth (we’re claiming Si as part of the Weymouth massive!). At the other end of the scale, we are so proud of the three guys in the Masterblaster fleet who absolutely owned it! To Tyler Baker and James Faley who came 2nd and 3rd respectively and to Reed Russell who stormed away with the title, winning all bar one of the 24 races completed over the weekend. And special mention to Sam Anstey who moved up into the Amateur Fleet for the first time and did so well, coming 19th out of 29 competitors.
But we have to save the best stand out result to the end. Completing five full rounds over the weekend, Scotty Stallman not only won the Amateur Fleet, but he did so by a clear margin! What a hot prospect this young star is. And at just 13, he is an amazing talent already. Watch out Pro Fleet – there is a giant killer in the midst!
Thanks goes to Ross Williams and Tabou / GA sails for their sponsorship of the event – what a perfect start to the 2015 BSA series. A full rundown of the results from the weekend can be seen here.
