Yesterday, on the 26th July, Kev and Tris spent the day running between Weymouth Beach and Smallmouth Cove, loading vans, recommissioning rescue boats and negotiating with security guards to set up the windsurfing taster stand on the Olympic LIVE site. They even managed to get some shots of how the centre looks now (albeit from a distance … the centre is the over-exposed white blob without any branding on! ;-( ). Wonder if LOCOG are going to leave the Olympic rings suspended in the water after the Games? Might need to be re-writing the Risk Assessment if they do, which is more than can be said for the lady in the van in front of us, who had so much foliage in the back of her van that the boot wouldn’t close. So she did as any sane person would and used masking tape to hold the boot down! Only on one side mind – no point in wasting tape…

So after set up and taking 32 tasters on the first day, a cool drink was the order of the day … only to run into some athletes in white and gold tracksuits coming off stage, having been introduced to the crowds! Sat writing this watching the opening ceremony and feeling a little bit proud. Wishing all the teams and athletes the best of luck. Will bring more from down here as often as we can … stay tuned!
