What a day! Okay, it certainly wasn’t the windiest, but that doesn’t matter when you’re longboard racing! Turn out for the first club race day was excellent, with two heats of six before being split up into the ‘Rusty’ and ‘Polished’ fleets. Julie Hall came through as triumphant in the Rusties, whilst Tom Wells displayed his dominance in the Polished ones, despite Andy Chandler redefining the term ‘port-flyer’ on the start line. More of a port tack clear-up! The atmosphere got even more intense in the final challenge race when the two fleets combined and a paddle-board element was added into the mix.
It was a great opening to the series, which will now take place every Thursday evening from 6pm onwards. Get in touch to put your name down on the mailing list for it! Massive thanks to our race officers – Kev Greenslade and Tony Wood – awesome job! And thanks to Andy and Pete for the images.
